The Rockshox Reverb is a family of hydraulic height adjustable seat posts knowns as "dropper posts". It is a very popular post as it comes stock on many bikes bundled with SRAM drivetrain components. The first Reverb dropper post was introduced in 2011. Since then three main variations have been produced.
The original Reverb format with an external hydraulic hose connected near the seat to a remote button mounted on the handlebar.
The Reverb Stealth which has a hose internal to the bike frame also mounted to a remote button or lever on the handlebar.
The Reverb AXS which features remote electronic actuation with no hoses or cables.
All Reverbs are built around an internal hydraulic cartridge which is air pressurised to give self-return to full height. Each format has several generations starting at A1 and progressing through minor and major changes. These model designations were often added later.
Reverb dropper posts feature hydraulic cartridges which are also air pressurised for return force. They are made in several different lengths and strokes for different size riders and bike frames. Actuation is by a remote hydraulic button or lever on the handlebars for most, with the AXS model featuring wireless electronic actuation also by a lever on the handlebars.
The hydraulic remote is unique to the Reverb posts but aftermarket conversions exist to use cable actuators instead. The hydraulic levers feature an adjuster barrel which is marketed as a speed control and works by changing the starting stroke of the slave cylinder in the post.
The foot of the post is designed so it can be removed for servicing of the sliding parts without opening the hydraulic cartridge. Though in practice this is very difficult.
The post can be serviced at home with a well equipped home workshop. Care must be taken as the cartridge contains 300 psi pressure and usually foamed up oil which is difficult to safely vent. It should not be opened by anyone not experienced in shock or post service.
Shockcraft can service and repair all of the Reverb Dropper Posts.
To book your Reverb Dropper Post service please complete a dropper post service booking form:
Air being sucked into the cartridge causing oil foaming, slurping and spongey lock function.
Internal oil leaks causing damper oil to leak out the bottom of the post.
Remote not working due to minor or major oil leaks.
Post not moving well in the cold due to oil type.
Damaged hydraulic shaft (scratches) causing oil loss.
Dry or contaminated sliding parts causing sticky movement.
Air and oil seals wearing and hardening due to age.
Corrosion of outer tube from carbon frames (use carbon paste)
Broken/kinked hydraulic hose.
These posts are all servicable and we have seal kits for all of them. Metal parts supply can be difficult on some models.
