Comprehensive service kit for Fox Float air shocks from 2000 onwards
Includes Shockcraft's air sleeve kit, damper seal kit & Faux IFP valve stem kit with grease, oil & tools to make the job easier
In stock
Shockcraft's complete air seal kit to fit Fox Float air shocks from 2000 onward.
This kit has been designed for a longer life. We still recommend 25 hour clean and re-lube.
The seal kit contains the air shaft seal, air piston seal, scraper seal, back-up rings and green travel check o-ring. Dual can seals, valve stem seals and valve cores are optional. Three different shock head o-ring sizes (standard, old school, extra volume) are included. PDF showing contents of kit is available here.
Choose either Slickoleum grease or RWC air chamber lube (same as Fox FLOAT fluid). At Shockcraft we only use Slickoleum in air can service of these shocks.
Optional:
• Dual air can seals - see page 2 of PDF here for details
Installation Notes
Clean all seal grooves thoroughly with a dry paper towel and lightly grease all static seals. Smear a film of Slickoleum grease into the air-can. Coat all sliding seal faces with Slickoleum grease.
Slow the rebound fully and compress the shock to enable easier install of the air-can.
Fox uses 1 cc of the lube oil in the shock negative chamber, 1.5 cc in the positive chamber. On bikes with the shock vertical this oil all ends up in the negative chamber. On bikes with the shock inverted this all ends up in your shock pump.
This kit allows DIY service of Fox Float rear shocks from 2000 to current by replacing the rubber pellet IFP valve with a compact schrader valve.
IFP Rubber Pellet
This is a straight replacement for the stock IFP valve and requires a pressurised hypodermic needle to charge with gas.
Instructions
Fit o-ring onto stem and lightly grease with Slickoleum.
Max install torque 2 Nm (screw-driver tight) using a 5 mm hex key (allen key).
Install valve core.
Inflate IFP to desired pressure (usually 300-500psi) and install cap.
Note valve stem needs removed for air-can service.
Check frame clearance carefully before riding, you may need to reorientate some shocks.
IFP Pressures:
Boost valve shocks - see sticker on the shock.
Coil shocks - 200 psi
Air shocks - 300 psi
Lockout shocks - up to 500 psi
If IFP pressure is too low the shock will cavitate and knock on fast hits as well as ingest air via the main shaft seal.
If IFP pressure is too high you get extra preload force and extra seal friction.
Tools required:
5mm hex key
Vavle core tool
300 or 600 psi shock pump
9 mm kit fits 2014+ Fox Float & DPS shocks
9.5 mm kit fits 2000-2014 Fox Float shocks
Boost valve kit fits 2014+ Float & CTD Boost Valve Shocks
Kits include o-rings for the damper.
